A Brief Look Into Sock History
Other than choosing a pair and pulling them on in the morning, many of us don’t think much about our socks. Yet, their history can be traced all the way back to Ancient Egypt, where they’ve been found in graves to reveal that they’ve existed way back in 1500 B.C. Back then, socks were made of brightly colored wool and were designed to be worn with sandals. Today, this is considered to be a questionable fashion statement!
Moving into the medieval era, and we find that, due to the fact that manufacturing them was a guild secret, socks were a privilege only available to the super rich.
Now, socks are widely available and worn by nearly everyone. They come in all sorts of different styles, from glow in the dark to designs to others featuring pop culture icons like Harry Potter and Bob Ross!
